Why is there such a gap in the Guardians of Eternity series?

After twelve books and several novellas I took a break in writing the Guardians of Eternity series. I was determined to ensure that the stories never became stale and I felt like I needed to clear my head. However, I realized that I was homesick for my Guardians. I missed Styx, and Viper, and especially Levet. It was time to return to that special world. Now they’re BACK!!
